EXPO Forum
Like other buildings on the site of the conference and exhibition centre, the hotel complex is clad with amber-coloured ceramics – an allusion to the famous Amber Room in the nearby Catherine Palace. To achieve this, NBK developed a weatherproof special glaze with a golden hue. What makes the building so striking is its multifaceted design with different terracotta elements, special profiles and various special shapes, such as the oversized form elements in the corner areas. The ceramics give rise to staircase-like structures, smooth panels form frameworks for profiled elements with a lamellar structure, the corners of the building are rounded – and each individual ceramic surface presents its own picture.
