Residential Building Zurlindenstr. 186, Zurich

The sculptural building with the protruding balconies immediately catches the eye next to the typical 19th century houses in the neighbourhood. The elegant new construction perfectly integrated the old, nearly dilapidated house from 1894 that once stood here and transformed it into a modern multifamily dwelling. The facade is entirely made of grey, glazed ceramic panels that shimmer in shades from brownish-black to silver, depending on the light, and provide an impressive contrast to the white of the windows. The vertical structure of the elements, which were produced as custom forms by NBK especially for this project, creates an unusual façade.
