1333 H Street NW
The special features of the old office building have been emphasised by the renovation work, and existing textural elements have been integrated in order to achieve a seamless transition to a modern design. To bring lots of light into the interior while adding a visual frisson to the unspectacular, compact cube, the overhaul focused on the façade structure. Fine-profiled white glazed baguette fins reminiscent of electronic components are positioned vertically on the continuous glass curtain. As well as lending stability and structure to the transparent surface, they emphasise original features that arouse curiosity and draw attention from any distance.
