Elbchaussee, Hamburg
The 50th anniversary of the company’s founding was reason enough to give the most important gmp projects from this period a proper exhibition space. With his “Architektursalon”, Meinhard von Gerkan has designed an impressive museum space located directly on the banks of the Elbe and commanding a view of the Port of Hamburg. The architecture features a curved facade completely free of sharp corners and edges and constructed from ceramic panels of varying radii. This structure is underscored by the horizontal joints in the terracotta cladding and the balconies that encircle the building. This design is systematically and consistently pursued in the TERRART® baguettes, which act as sun protection in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows.
