Ecole Primaire Ben Heyad, Luxembourg

The impressive impact of the building is achieved through the interplay between anthracite and light sandy façades and the generously proportioned glass surfaces. The contrasting hues are clearly coordinated with the different façade elements: the front section of the building next to the entrance area is completely clad in grey, and the expansive window surfaces are also framed with dark terracotta. This colour continues into the unusually arranged window bars. All other closed surfaces appear in a light, natural hue. The reduction-fi red, matt-fi nished TERRART®-Large panels are vertically mounted. The light elements have profi led features and are arranged in an offset pattern. The structure of the very heavy, dark surface is broken up with individual panels that jut out. With its modernity and clarity of form, structure and colouring, the school building clearly stands out from the classic buildings in the immediate vicinity and adds a touch of progressiveness.
