The GSK Centre at University of Nottingham for Sustainable Chemistry is now housed in a brand new carbon neutral laboratory, the first of its kind in the UK. A fine example of how effectively natural wood and ceramics interact: the terracotta cladding comprising light-grey and blue elements arranged in half-bond creates a vibrant background for the architecturally dominant wooden structures, which extend up to the roof in a series of unconventional shapes. Sustainability is the theme here, evident through the solar panels and roof greening.
