Spacious, light and modern with echoes of typical industrial buildings – to preserve the charm and character of the historic heritage, existing buildings have been converted and traditional industrial materials deliberately used for the new Brussels shopping centre. It is divided into individual buildings that give shoppers the impression of strolling through a small town. Most of the wide pedestrianised zones are covered by a protective steel and glass structure, and colonnades have been installed for visual surprises. Outer and inner façades are fitted with horizontal aligned, appealing light ceramics in various formats through to slender bar-shaped elements – they give the overall complex a uniform character and a calming air.
