Stanford University, Cardinal Hall

California, Redwood City, 485 Broadway, Redwood City

Project Description

Careful attention to detail and extensive planning were critical when Stanford University decided to undertake the major project of establishing a new off-campus extension in Redwood City, designed to house administrative offices, medical clinics and research facilities. At the 35-acre Redwood City campus, the architect selected TERRART® Large and Solid in a grooved profile with a natural finish for four of the buildings. A hand-set rainscreen application was used on the first floor of the façade while precast terracotta was applied to the upper floors, which cantilever over the first floor. The architect used three colors of red-orange, varying from light to dark variations, which contrast against blue skies and abundant green landscaping along pedestrian paths and open spaces.
