MIH Masséna, Paris

The prestigious commercial building impresses with its details: its architecture offers exciting impressions that are constantly changing with the viewing angle due to the interaction between the different materials, shapes and colours. The basement, whose closed surfaces frame the large display window fronts and are clad in ceramic elements, form the visually solid, load bearing foundation for the fully glazed rectangular and slightly set back towers. Narrow baguettes, mounted at intervals to allow the light to penetrate, are positioned as bands in front of the windows and are carried through as balcony and parapet elements on the glazed towers. The cheerful, Mediterranean colouring – the façade ceramics are kept to terracotta red – creates a fresh, inviting emphasis that does not dominate the building.
