Hohe Bleichen, Hamburg

Overlapping vertical and horizontal levels make up the facade of this new building in Hamburg. Tapering forwards, attached at right-angles to the wall and stretching across several storeys, the red-glazed terracotta facing panels look like “ceramic swords”. They give the impression of interwoven slats, and emphasise the building‘s verticality and the curved nature of the facade.
