MOA-Bogen, Berlin

The Moa-Bogen shopping centre in Stephankiez, Berlin, represents an urban centre of attraction that enlivens the centre of Berlin-Moabit with shops, sports and leisure facilities, a hotel, car park and community centre with landscaped gardens. It is not just the rounded, fully glazed part of the corner building that really stands out – the regular subdivisions of the facade, in which ceiling-high window elements alternate with solid fields, in particular lends the building an impressive appearance. The TERRART R ceramic panels offer a contrasting pattern of nuanced hues ranging from yellow to red, which is also reflected inside the building and in the multi-storey car park. These elements have a wave profile and are finished with a double-fired glazing that also covers the edge area. The glass and terracotta surfaces are framed and supported by striking dark steel bands that encircle the entire building structure at floor height and impart an elegant appearance.
