Medstar Georgetown University Hospital Verstandig Pavilion

The surgical pavilion comprises six storeys and houses 31 state-of-the-art operating theatres, 32 patient rooms and an efficient emergency department. What is exceptional about the functional building is the brick-red façade design, which consists of floor-to-ceiling vertical louvres in front of the large glass fronts, while the closed surfaces were clad with six-inch-strong concrete slabs into which NBK Solid elements have been cast. Arban Carosi designed the architectural precast concrete elements.
